Terramin Australia Environment

Environment

Terramin Australia Limited is committed to meeting its obligations as an environmentally responsible corporate citizen both in Australia and overseas. It sees the preservation and protection of the natural environment as part of the Company's commitment to the local communities in which its projects are situated.

Terramin is subject to significant environmental regulation under both Commonwealth and South Australian legislation in relation to its exploration, development and mining activities.  Exploration licences and mining leases are issued subject to various obligations as to environmental monitoring and rehabilitation, and ongoing compliance with all relevant legislative obligations.  Terramin, its Board, employees and consultants are committed to achieving a high standard of environmental performance.

ANGAS ZINC MINE

The Angas Zinc Mine has had minimal impact on the site's visual amenity as it is based within a former limestone and sand quarry that had been operating for several decades.

Terramin began an extensive revegetation programme as soon as mining was approved and will rehabilitate the entire area to a natural environment when mining is completed.  The revegetation programme includes planting more than 6,000 local plant species.

TALA HAMZA

Environmental and social impact studies are well advanced for the Tala Hamza project with input from Golder Associates (ground water surveys), Envi-Consult (cultural heritage survey) and the University of Bejaia.

WMZ and Terramin are liaising closely with all levels of local and national government and are implementing a community consultation programme.
